2012 Rolex Watch Calendars

calendar | ic_dehaze_black_24px By Frank Geelen | ic_query_builder_black_24px 2 min read |

By this time of the year, calendars about all kind of different topics are being offered again. And luckily for watch collectors, there are some watch calendars as well.

The German Rolex forum R-L-X just released their calendar for 2012, called the “Solamente Verdura” or translated “only vegetables”?!? The Watch Photographer, who’s photos we used as Weekly Watch Photo on more than one occasion, also just released his 2012 calendar with absolutely stunning photos, like the one below!

Both calendars are printed on A2 format (± 42,0 x 59,4 cm / ± 16.54 x 23.39 inch) and feature one Rolex watch every month. Yes, both calendars are about Rolex! The Rolex collectors community is a strong community with a lot of passion for their beloved timepieces, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that these calendars have been made. I haven’t seen the R-L-X calendar myself, so I can’t speak about the quality of the paper and print, but I have seen the 2011 calendar of the Watch Photographer and the quality of his calendar is very good!

Both photos above are made by Bert a.k.a. the Watch Photographer. The first photo shows a nice vintage version of a Rolex Explorer II Orange Hand. The second photo shows a Rolex Daytona in EverRose gold.

The R-L-X calendar is called ‘Solamenta Verdura’, or veggies only, and features rolex watches with… indeed vegetables. No clue why they choose to go ‘organic’, but let’s say it’s a matter of taste 😉

I show you photos of the same watch, so you can get a feeling of which calendar appeals most to you. Below is a photo of the R-L-X calendar showing a vintage Rolex Explorer II, the same watch as in the first photo in this post that was made by the Watch Photographer. Unfortunately the R-L-X calendar shows the Explorer II with a service dial without patina.

The following photo, from the R-L-X calendar, shows the new Rolex Daytona in EverRose gold, which lays on carrots. (again, the same watch as in the Watch Photographer’s calendar – see second photo of this post)

Bert’s photo are probably know to the readers of Monochrome, because his photos featured regularly in the Weekly Watch Photo, like the one below showing how he was shooting the vintage Rolex Milgauss 1019. And below you can see the final version that was used for the calendar… sweet isn’t it?

Both calendars are available for more or less the same price…

The calendar made by Bert, a.k.a. the Watch Photographer cost € 50,- Euro (sent to an address in the Netherlands), € 55,- Euro including shipping to any city in Europe and € 65,- Euro including shipping worldwide. You can order your copy of the Watch Photographer’s Calendar through his website here.

The R-L-X calendar can be ordered here at the R-L-X forum, and costs € 44,90 Euro excluding shipping.
