Regular MONOCHROME readers might have come across several of the limited editions created in partnership between Nomos and ACE Jewelers, the Amsterdam-based family-owned retailers. This year marks the fifth anniversary of that partnership, where we see a new limited edition every year so far, and this year turns out to be no exception. Once again selecting the Club 36 as a starting point, the latest creation is the ACE x Nomos Club 36 Blue Limited Edition.

In previous years we’ve seen some very interesting watches being presented by Nomos and ACE Jewelers. It all started with the Nomos Orion “De Stijl” in 2017, and since then we’ve seen special editions of the Tangente, the Club Campus, and the Zürich Weltzeit. The playful and affordable Club 36 is once again the topic of choice for the sixth limited edition between Nomos and ACE Jewelers.

The ACE x Nomos Club 36 Blue Limited Edition comes in the familiar 36mm wide full-polished steel case. The dial has been turned into a deep, midnight blue with bright orange hour indices and double-digit numerals in the outer minute track. The central hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated, with white Super LumiNova, while the small seconds hand matches the hour markers.

On the technical side, nothing has changed, other than the fact you have a choice to see the movement, or not. The Nomos Alpha caliber, made in-house, is a hand-wound movement that runs at 21,600vph and provides 43 hours of power when fully wound. It’s decorated with blued screws, perlage and Glashütte ribbing. More details here.

The ACE X Nomos Club 36 Limited Edition is attached to a black Horween Shell Cordovan leather strap with a steel pin buckle and comes with two additional NATO straps. It is limited to 150 pieces, 50 of which will have a closed caseback and cost EUR 1,080 including taxes. The other 100 will be fitted with a see-through caseback, and retail at EUR 1,340 including taxes. The watch will become available at the end of September, with reservations being taken as of now.

  1. I think you got the prices flipped. The open caseback would be the more expensive of the two.

  2. We’ve mended it in the text, thank you for pointing that out to us.

  3. The Ace website does not mention the additional NATO straps, and mine did not come with them.

  4. Scratch my earlier comment: the additional NATO straps (navy and orange) arrived a week after the watch did. The watch is very sharp, especially with the navy NATO strap.
