Girard-Perregaux Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges

Just the other week we presented you a teaser video (and a bit of an analysis) of Girard-Perregaux’s impressive Tri-Axial Tourbillon, and now they come back to what the brands is know for: the tourbillon with three-bridges. This architecture has been made by GP for more than 150 years, and the new version for Baselworld 2014 features a more architectural and modern interpretation of their classical timepiece. Introducing the Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges.

One of the things that immediately caught our attention, is the lack of bezel and a very special sapphire crystal, which they call “protective dome”. It gives an impressive and detailed look on the dial from every angles (and without distortions). The pink gold case, both with satin-finished and polished surfaces, has been redesigned to a more modern interpretation of the classical GP look.

The bridges are also totally new, with a sculptural design and made of titanium, sand-blasted and PVD coated. The overall look is more pure and looks ‘lighter’ than the previous versions.

The calibre has also been redesigned to fit the 45mm of the watch but keeps the identity of the three bridges range: a symmetrical design, a  gear-train aligned in one line, a tourbillon cage at the 6 o’clock position and a micro-rotor mounted under the barrel at the 12 o’clock position.

The Neo-Tourbillon also features a large titanium one-minute tourbillon (14.4mm of diameter) and a new winding system. The white gold micro-rotor is now located under the barrel and not around it as seen with previous Tourbillon with Three Bridges calibres. The power reserve has been increased by integrating a larger barrel drum and now offers 70h of energy.

Here’s a video so you can see the Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges from all angles!

We’re going to bring it to you with live photos soon here, on our Instagram account and Facebook page. Stay Tuned.
