Brellum Pilot Power Gauge Chronometer
The return of the Brellum Pilot chronograph with power reserve indication.
A few weeks ago, Brellum unveiled its Pilot Power Gauge Chronograph that kicked-off with a limited edition in DLC-steel or steel, featuring a black dial with old radium hands and markings. The indie brand now follows up with a ‘civilian’ non-limited version. Meet the Brellum Pilot Power Gauge Chronometer.
Brellum appeared on the independent watchmaking scene just a few years ago as Sebastien Muller, a fourth-generation watchmaker from Porrentruy in the Swiss Jura, presented the inaugural collection: the Duo-Box. This beautifully executed chronograph stands out with its original construction featuring box-type sapphire crystals on both sides of the watch. The front one protects the dial while the one at the back allows the chronograph movement to be admired in detail. This unusual choice offers great wearing comfort and also allows for a relatively thin case band.
Based on the Duo-Box, the Pilot Power Gauge features characteristic pilot watch attributes such as the B-Uhr-inspired triangular orientation index at 12 o’clock. Following an inaugural limited edition featuring a black dial paired with old radium markings and hands, the model is back in more elegant attire. The new options include blue, silver or black sunray-pattern galvanic dials. The markers and hands are satin-brushed and rhodium-coated. In characteristic Brellum style, the 41.8mm case features mushroom-type push-pieces, two domed scratch-resistant, glare-proofed box sapphire crystals. It is fashioned out of 316L steel and the water-resistance is rated 50m / 5 ATM.
Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback reveals the automatic movement decorated with pèrlage, Geneva stripes and blued screws. The openwork rotor is inspired by turn coordinators, flight instruments that allow pilots to control the position of their aircraft. It is engraved with the caption ‘Chronometer Officially Certified’. This robust, reliable and accurate automatic movement is the BRELLUM BR-750-PR calibre. Based on the Valjoux 7750, it comes with the movement’s signature 12-9-6 layout and it is modified with an added power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. The specs are that of the 7750, meaning a cam-and-lever integrated chronograph, running at 4Hz and with a 48-hour autonomy.
The Brellum Pilot Power Gauge Coordinator comes with a calfskin leather strap with off-white stitching or on a 5-row steel bracelet. To offer its watches at a reasonable price, Brellum sells them directly to clients with no distributors, retailers or middlemen. These are available exclusively at the brand’s website. Price is set at CHF 2,890 (excl. taxes) on a leather strap and CHF 2,990 on a bracelet.
