SIHH

The SIHH welcomes new brands; it is now official, the next edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), taking place January 15th to 18th in Geneva, will welcome 4 new brands. This includes power house Hermès and three smaller independent watch brands, which will expose in the dedicated ‘Indie corner’, the Carré des Horlogers.

Rumors were already out for some time, however now it’s official that Hermès is not going to be at next year’s Baselworld, but at the other big watch fair, SIHH. It is indeed a statement for the Geneva fair, underlining its attractiveness. The French luxury power house is one of the most prestigious names in the luxury industry and its consolidated revenues passed the 5 billion euros threshold in 2016 (157 million Euro for watches).

The Carré des Horlogers, created in 2016 and regrouping high-end independent watchmakers, makes room for 3 new brands, DeWitt, Romain Gauthier and Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, laureate of the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2016, the Oscars of watchmaking. Ferdinand Berthoud is a sister company of Chopard. In total, 34 brands will be now exhibiting at SIHH.

This year, the SIHH welcomed 16,000 visitors including 1,200 journalists and 2,500 public visitors on the last day (and the first public day at the SIHH in its history). In a press release, Fabienne Lupo, SIHH Managing Director commented “There is no intention of extending SIHH indefinitely. It will grow within carefully measured limits so as to preserve the values of excellence that have forged its reputation. It must also meet the expectations of its exhibitors and clients, both now and in the future.”
