Today, in another of our MONOCHROME video reviews, we’ll take a closer look at the impressive Patravi TravelTec watch by Carl F. Bucherer, a timepiece that packs a host of useful functions. This watch upped the antes in the GMT arena when it was introduced in 2005, with a movement capable of displaying three time zones coupled with a chronograph. Clearly, we’re looking at a very technical, robust and purpose-built traveller’s tool, with no compromise on functionality. This specific watch has been around for some years now and has undergone several visual updates. It is available in multiple editions, but today we take a closer look at a rather cool edition, the Patravi TravelTec Blue.

When it comes to functions, the Patravi TravelTec is one of the most competent watches of its kind on the market. Linked to a GMT hand on the central axis, the second time zone is located on the outermost 24-hour fixed scale with smaller white Arabic numerals. It is set at the crown in position 2 and used to indicate home time. The third time zone is indicated by the larger rotatable 24-hour scale located directly above the hour indices. By releasing the locking pusher at 10 o’clock, the adjustment mechanism of the third time zone makes that scale rotate. And East and West positions on the pusher allow it to advance backwards and forwards, depending on which side of the globe you’re travelling to. And of course, there’s also a tri-compax chronograph, central hours and minutes for the local time and a date window under a magnifier.

Certainly, it sounds quite complex in words… So if you want to discover all about the Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec and how it works, check out the video above and you’ll get the low-down on this bold, technical yet very practical traveller’s watch.
