Spotted - Cristiano Ronaldo Breguet Double Tourbillon Platinum-Paved 5349PT

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese footballer who currently plays for the Turin-based club Juventus. He is also one of the most famous players on the planet alongside Argentinian player Lionel Messi of Barcelona. And as you can expect from him, he plays some serious “foot game”… but also some serious “wrist game”, as he’s been seen yesterday with “just” a paved, platinum Breguet Double Tourbillon ref. 5349PT.

Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo – or CR7 for the fans – has sported a couple of complicated pieces, albeit adorned with extra bling. The first one was a Hublot MP09 Tourbillon Bi-Axial adorned with baguette diamonds on a rubber strap. The second was a Girard-Perregaux Planetarium with tri-axial Tourbillon in rose gold. This watch was even more iced out than the first one, with the matching bracelet also featuring diamonds everywhere. It seems he does like watches that feature serious complications.

Yesterday Ronaldo launched his latest fragrance, “CR7 Play It Cool” in Turin, Italy. He was sporting a new timepiece from Breguet for the event.

Which one you ask? It was a Classique “Grande Complication” Double Tourbillon ref. 5349PT. It features a double tourbillion, which provides a focal point for the wearer and anybody looking at the watch. It also has the signature blued Breguet hour and minute hands. The watch has a 50mm platinum case adorned with 417 diamonds around the bezel, case, crown and the dial. It weighs 309 grams, so its not exactly lightweight even though its on a leather strap.

Powering the watch is the manually wound calibre 588, which has been beautifully hand engraved and can be admired through the sapphire caseback. It has a price tag of USD 802,000… Just that!

It may not be to everyone’s taste but the iced out Breguet is quite tastefully done and when you are one of the highest paid sportsmen on the planet, you can purchase what you want.

  1. I would be happier if this sort of article were not part of Monochrome Watches.

  2. There’s a strange spinning sound emanating from Pere Lachaise cemetery.

  3. Proof if ever it was needed, that money does not buy taste.

  4. A man advertising perfume with a diamond studded watch on wearing earrings, makeup, and tight fitted clothing just makes my skin crawl.

  5. Two things that are painful to look at but you know there is skill involved, pity I don’t like either of them

  6. I am sure he fully appreciates the mechanical complexities of a double tourbillon…

  7. Sucessful and healthy ,if he helps people and annimals then as i watch lover im with him.

  8. Watch-lovers don’t buy that kind of watch. He only loves one thing: himself.
But then, we can count the number of tasteful football players on the fingers of one foot.

  9. This is not accurate: “He is also one of the most famous players on the planet alongside Argentinian player Lionel Messi of Barcelona.”

Cristiano played against Messy many times. They never played on the same team!

  10. Not about the watch. Not about the clothes. Not about the perfume. Its selling success, affluence and celebrity sexuality. This is quite an inappropriate article for Monochrome to run. It’s hardly newsworthy, barely relevant to horology and peddles the lowest forms of marketing strategy. This angle was tired in 1980 when Mad Men scourged American media in a endless wave of shallow sex, envy and capitalism.

  11. An awful lot of over thinking going here, it’s just a footballer selling himself as a brand to aspire too?
    Leave it at that?
