Sometimes when browsing the world wide web you stumble across a watch that really does it for you. Yesterday evening and this morning i saw two completely different watches that both really do “it” for me. Unfortunately both watches are completely out of reach for me. I will have to settle for trying such a watch on my wrist at watchfairs or meetings with fellow watch enthousiasts. But i have never come across one of these beauties in real life and i only know them from photos on the internet.

One of my dreamwatches (and believe me, there are quite a few 😉 ) is the F.P. Journe Octa Reserve de Marche in platinium with a yellow gold Dial. It’s size, 38mm, is a perfect size for such a beautiful watch.

The other dreamwatch is something completely different… the mother of all dive watches in my humble opinion. The Rolex reference 6538 big crown or James Bond’s Rolex. This fine specimen is for sale at the next Antiquorum auction to be held in New York. I know there are other brands who had a dive watch with a uni directional bezel, a screwdown crown and luminous material on hands and markers. But somehow this one is ‘the one’ for me. With it’s 38mm diameter the Submariner is smaller in size than it’s succesors who are 40mm. But somehow it’s suits the watch very fine. I’m also crazy about my ‘great white’ sea-dweller (ref. 1665), so don’t understand me wrong, but this one is a grail watch to me.

For other dreamwatches take a look at my Top 5 in the top navigation.

  1. The F.P. Journe’s are truly incredible. Like you, I am yet to have the privilege of seeing one of these beauties for myself – I can only imagine!
