Girard-Perregaux has just released the new 1966 Small Seconds and Date. A perfectly elegant pink gold dress watch, with a contemporary size, and it comes in two flavors: a silvered opaline dial and a strikingly beautiful cognac-colored dial.

Last year Girard-Perregaux introduced the GP 1966 Small Second, in two limited editions of which one was dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the brand. The new 1966 Small Seconds and Date is 3 mm larger and… has another, larger, movement. That’s something that connoisseurs will appreciate!

The movement used in the smaller GP 1966 Small Second, that measures 38 mm in diameter, is based on caliber GP03300. That movement measures 11.5 ligne, or 26 mm, in diameter. Usually brands beef up the dimensions of the watch, while using the same (small) movements. Girard-Perregaux introduces an entirely new larger movement, measuring 13.25 ligne or 30 mm in diameter.

The new automatic winding caliber GP01890-0003, was designed in the Manufacture’s R&D department, and is entirely made and assembled in GP’s workshops. The movement offers 54 hours of power reserve. Compliments for Girard-Perregaux for developing the larger movement that better fits the larger case!

Like said, the new 1966 Small Seconds and Date comes in two flavors of dials; either the green/brown/beige color that GP names “cognac”  or the silvered opaline dial. Both feature a slightly recessed small seconds sub dial and applied pink gold hour markers and hands. Both come in a 41 mm measuring pink gold case, featuring the GP 1966 signature short lugs that so beautifully enhances the dress watch style.
