During our visit to Geneva Watch Days, the only main watch-related event organised this year in Europe, we were able to discover some of the timepieces introduced earlier this year in the metal, as well as all-new models from more than 15 brands. One of these exhibitors was Girard-Perregaux, which released a wide variety of new models, including the unprecedented Free Bridge and a series named the “Infinity Editions”. In this video interview we’ll be talking to Clémence Dubois, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at Girard-Perregaux, who will show us these new timepieces.

Starting with the Infinity Editions, Girard-Perregaux has been playing with some of its signature models here, giving them a fascinating black onyx dial – a deep black, glossy natural stone – on which touches of gold have been added to create a luxurious background. The onyx dials now appear on the classic 1966, the Vintage 1945 and its original rectangular case and complex display, on the ultra-complicated Cosmos and finally, on the brand’s luxury sports watch, the Laureato.

However, the main introduction for Girard-Perregaux in 2020 is the Free Bridge, a novel approach to the iconic transversal bridge that has characterized the brand for over 130 years – first seen on the 1889 Esmeralda watch. This distinctive element of the movement has been used here in a far more technical and modern context, with a watch that is bold, innovative and architectural. Furthermore, this new Free Bridge also represents the entry door to the haute horlogerie “Bridges” family and is powered by an intensively reworked in-house movement, with a state-of-the-art silicon balance/escapement couple.
