The Redesigned Chopard L.U.C Perpetual Twin
Two new versions for Chopard’s COSC-certified Perpetual Calendar.
In 1996, under the guidance of Karl-Friedrich Schefeule, Chopard proudly inaugurated its Fleurier Manufacture and introduced a superb micro-rotor movement, the Calibre 1.96. This brand milestone gave birth to a collection of high-end watches named L.U.C embodying Chopard’s finest watchmaking expertise. It laid the foundations for numerous developments including the L.U.C Perpetual Twin, an elegant perpetual calendar that was presented in 2016 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the collection. The model is now released in two new elegant versions.
The first version of the Chopard L.U.C Perpetual Twin is presented in the usual stainless steel case. It is now fitted with a new dial, with subtle blue shades. The second model introduced is, for the first time, offered in pink gold and paired with an elegant ruthenium-grey dial. Both dials are presented in a new, more classic style with faceted hour markers – replacing the applied Roman numerals found in previous editions. The dial colours are emphasized by a sunray satin-brush finish. The 43mm case, as well as the clean layout of the dial, allow for a legible and practical display enhanced with a large date indication. The three sub-dials show the day of the week, the month, with the leap year indication next to it, and finally the small seconds at 6 o’clock.
Visible underneath a sapphire crystal caseback is the automatic in-house calibre L.U.C 96.22-L movement powering the L.U.C Perpetual Twin. Thanks to a 22k micro-rotor, this elegant movement is just 6.00mm thick despite its complex mechanism. Operating at 4Hz, it uses twin barrels to deliver a comfortable 65-hour power reserve. Its precision is certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). The finishing is in line with the impeccable Haute Horlogerie execution of the collection.
The Chopard L.U.C Perpetual Twin is worn on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap with alligator lining and fitted with a pin buckle matching the material of the case. Water-resistance is rated at 30m. Price is set at EUR 24,600 for the steel version. The price of the gold model is to be confirmed. For more information, please visit www.chopard.com.
