The Norqain Adventure Neverest “Night Sight” 40mm DLC
The adventurous Neverest shifts into "night mode" with a black case and fully luminous dial.
Norqain is quite a young brand with a strong spirit for adventure. Embracing the art of mountaineering, Norqain has created the Adventure collection, home to the new Adventure Neverest. This rugged watch is dedicated to Mt Everest and comes as a time only or GMT. Now Norqain is moving the three-handed Adventure Neverest into darkness by dressing it in black with a fully luminous dial. Officially presented during Dubai Watch Week 2021, meet the Norqain Adventure Neverest Night Sight 40mm DLC.
Norqain is a family-run, independent watchmaking company that has done great things in only a short amount of time. Founded in 2018, the company relies on the experience gained during decades of activity in the Swiss watch industry. Norqain’s CEO Ben Küffer, along with family member and industry veteran Ted Schneider, set a very clear goal: the production of robust, adventurous watches. In 2020, a partnership was announced between Norqain and movement manufacturer Kenissi, meaning all Norqain watches now come with high-performance, COSC-certified movements.
The Norqain Adventure collection is quite a versatile sports-oriented range in the brand’s portfolio. Earlier this year, we saw the Adventure Neverest join the ranks, taking direct inspiration from the highest peak on our planet, Mt. Everest. This rugged three-hander is now converted into something much darker with a black DLC-coated 40mm wide stainless steel case. Like a compass, the bezel has a black insert with cardinal and ordinal directions. The “north” direction is indicated with Norqain’s logo, a stylised mountain peak. A pair of crown guards protect the screw-down crown.
Covered by a sapphire crystal, the dial has a khaki sand colour and is fully luminous, thanks to X1 Super-LumiNova. This emits a bright green glow at night, massively ramping up the night-time legibility. The applied hour numerals are done in black, with black printed markers in between and a minutes track on the outer perimeter. The grey sword-shaped hour and minute hands are faceted and feature the same X1 Super-LumiNova as the dial. The central seconds hand has a luminous triangular tip.
Powering the Norqain Adventure Neverest Night Sight 40mm DLC is the manufacture calibre NN20/1, made with Kenissi. This COSC-certified movement comes with very decent specs, first and foremost the 70-hour power reserve. It has a personalised bridge and rotor, which can be seen through the back. The frequency is 28,800vph, and it indicates central hours, minutes and seconds (no date).
The Norqain Adventure Neverest Night Sight 40mm DLC is worn on a khaki fabric strap with a central black stripe, echoing the colours of the dial. The alternative is a black rubber strap with a texture reminiscent of the bezel’s knurling. The watch retails for CHF 3,290 on the fabric strap or CHF 3,310 on the black rubber strap.
Out of all Neverest watches sold, ten per cent of the proceeds will go to the Butterfly Help Project. This charitable organisation was created by Norbu Sherpa and Andrea Sherpa-Zimmerman of Wild Yak Expeditions. Through the Butterfly Help Project, families of Sherpas who have lost their lives in the Himalayas mountain range are supported, and children are given access to education. Norqain has committed to sending 50 children to school this year.
