Panerai Submersible EcoPangaea Tourbillon GMT 50mm Mike Horn Edition PAM01108

Following the Arktos (2002-2004), North Pole Winter (2006), Pangea (2008-2012) and Pole2Pole expeditions (2016-2019), Panerai teams up again with Mike Horn this year. In the frame of the brand’s ‘experiences’ program, the brand unveils a special edition watch, a Submersible Tourbillon GMT available in only 5 pieces, that will allow buyers to live an experience in the Arctic with the South African/Swiss explorer. Meet the new PAM01108.

Over the past months, Panerai has presented several watch and experience combos, offering unique adventures as a perk to buying limited-edition watches. For 2020, the brand is giving access to an Arctic expedition with explorer and brand Ambassador Mike Horn, for buyers of the new Submersible EcoPangaea Tourbillon GMT.

Water-resistant up to 300 meters, this massive 50mm Submersible watch is presented in brushed steel. Named EcoPangaea, the material is actually recycled metal from Mike Horn’s boat, the Pangaea. The unidirectional bezel stands out with polished indexes on a sandblasted base. The model’s technical character is enhanced with ‘arctic’ blue touches, including Mike Horn’s signature on the sapphire caseback.

Inside beats the hand-wound in-house calibre P.2005/T. Made of 277 components, this skeletonized titanium movement is regulated by a 30-second tourbillon rotating along a perpendicular axis. It displays the hours, minutes, small seconds, a second time-zone, a 24-hour indication and the power reserve (6 days on three barrels).

A 5-piece limited edition available only in Panerai boutiques, the Submersible EcoPangaea Tourbillon GMT Mike Horn Edition PAM01108 comes with a black rubber strap and a second strap made of recycled PET textile. It will be delivered in a recycled plastic box that includes a special tool to change the strap and a screwdriver to remove the buckle. The price for this watch/experience combo is set at EUR 190,000. For more information, please visit www.panerai.com.

  1. Panerai lost it completely, who on earth buys a 190k watch cause “it is great for a pole expedition”, ridiculous…

  2. Useless for any expedition because you can’t hardly read the time …. why would anyone buy this when for the same $$$ you can buy one of Patek’s masterpiece complications ? ( BTW I’m a Panerai collector ) .

  3. Engineered art. They keep buying it, they keep on making it. Who’s to say what it’s really worth? However, it’s a bit out of range for me, so, I’m staying with my titanium Citizen 1000 m ecodrive which seems to work well so far.
