Back in 2019, Vacheron Constantin introduced a tourbillon to the Overseas collection. Its stainless steel case and vivid blue dial held the self-winding ultra-thin Calibre 2160 inside. Now the manufacturer unveils an 18k rose gold version and since going through a major uplift back in 2016, the Overseas now offers some really nice features like its interchangeable strap system and a slim 10.39mm-thick case.

The new 18K rose gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon watch is a 42.5mm model with a translucent blue lacquered dial executed with a sunburst satin-finished surface, surrounded by a velvet-finished flange. This particular shade of blue was chosen as a flagship colour that recalled watch dials of the 1950s and 60s. The model, still dedicated to travellers, maintains its distinct aesthetic with an instantly recognisable six-sided bezel evoking the company’s Maltese Cross symbol. The bevelled edges on the case and integrated bracelet remain faithful to the Overseas’ sporty temperament. The hour and minute hands on the dial are crafted from 18K 5N rose gold and have been treated with a layer of Super-LumiNova material to assist with legibility during the night, as have the baton hour markers. The entire surface of the dial is protected by a strong case front crafted from anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

Inside a small second counter at 6 o’clock is an open-heart feature that exposes the distinctive Maltese-shaped open carriage belonging to the mechanical self-winding Calibre 2160. Its central tourbillon bridge is held into place by a gold chaton and the tourbillon cage has been hand-polished. This in-house developed movement comprises a peripherally-mounted rotor made from 22k gold enabling it to maintain a slim profile. It also consists of 188 components and runs at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations/hour, delivering a power reserve of 80 hours. The view of the movement from the sapphire crystal caseback also remains unobstructed, displaying Geneva-striped bridges, polished screw heads and parts of the gear train.

The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon also features a soft iron casing ring that ensures anti-magnetic protection around the movement. The case is also 50-meter water-resistant. The strap options for the new rose gold Overseas Tourbillon are versatile since the watch incorporates Vacheron’s innovative interchangeable system. The easy and fast mechanism makes switching the already-fitted rose gold bracelet (with Maltese Cross-shaped links and a triple-blade folding clasp) over to the additional blue alligator leather band or supple blue rubber strap options easy.

The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in 18k rose gold will retail at EUR 165,000. More details at vacheron-constantin.com.
