The Brellum Pilot Power Reserve LE.2 Chronometer Green Dial
Ready for take off with a new vibrant green dial!
Brellum, the boutique brand created by Sebastien Muller a few years ago, has had quite a year with the launch (among others) of the Duobox Classic LE.8 and a new collection called Wyvern GMT Chronometer. But Brellum had one last trick up its sleeve before the end of the year that clearly hits the sweet spot of the brand: an aviator chronograph with a chronometer-certified movement. Based on a model launched in 2020, Muller has created a new limited edition with a green dial, the hottest colour on the market today. Here’s the new Brellum Pilot Power Reserve LE.2 Chronometer.
No major surprises here, as the base of this watch is fairly well known by now… but nevertheless an efficient and attractive one. When founded, Brellum quickly specialised in COSC-certified chronograph watches, combining great attention to detail with its fair pricing policy. The first watches, the DuoBox, were a mix of modern execution and proportions with cool retro-styled elements, such as the two box-shaped crystals (top and bottom) that gave the watch its name. Then, Sebastien created several variations around this theme, with panda dials and external bezel, and in 2020 launched his pilot’s watch – first with a black-on-black limited edition, then with a classic steel model.
This new Brellum Pilot Power Reserve LE.2 is based on the latter with a different dial colour and several small details that make this limited edition special. This pilot’s chronograph shares its case with the Duobox with a diameter of 41.80mm and a height of just over 15mm. Cleanly designed, with a smooth bezel and classic pump pushers for the chronograph, it is characterised by the use of two highly domed sapphire crystals. Not only do these reduce the height of the watch visually, but the smooth caseback also provides great comfort. The 100m water-resistant case is nicely executed with brushed surfaces and polished accents.
The main evolution for this Brellum Pilot Power Reserve LE.2 is the dial. Domed and finished with a sunray-brushed pattern, it takes on the hottest colour of the moment, deep green. It is paired with vertically brushed hour markers and typical pilot’s watch indexes for the quarters, executed in SLN. The display is classic for a Valjoux-based chronograph but adds a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. All the hands, even those for the sub-counters, are satin-finished and filled with luminous material.
Under the domed caseback is a well-known but perfected movement. The calibre Brellum BR-750-PR is based on the cam-lever automatic Valjoux 7750 but is presented here in a chronometer-certified version. The decoration has also been enhanced with perlage, Geneva stripes, blued screws and an openworked gold-coloured rotor with a pilot’s watch theme.
The Brellum Pilot Power Reserve LE.2 Chronometer is worn on an integrated brown leather strap and closed by a stainless steel deployment buckle. A steel bracelet is also available as an option. It will be limited to 17 pieces, available from the brand’s website here, and deliveries are expected mid-December 2021. It is priced at EUR 3,090, CHF 2,890 or USD 3,150.
